Women’s Health Physiotherapy

Women’s Health Physiotherapy focuses on the assessment and treatment of conditions related to the pelvic floor, core, spine, and pelvis across all life stages. This includes support during pregnancy and post-partum, pelvic floor dysfunction, prolapse, pelvic pain, continence concerns, and recovery following surgery or birth.

Care is not just about strengthening — it involves understanding how the pelvic floor works as part of the whole body, including breathing, posture, movement, nervous system regulation, and daily load. Effective women’s health physiotherapy supports function, comfort, confidence, and long-term wellbeing.

Women’s Health Physiotherapy at Anara Health

At Anara Health, women’s health physiotherapy goes beyond a standard pelvic floor approach. Care is individualised, thorough, and grounded in a deep understanding of the musculoskeletal system.

Full pelvic health assessments are offered where appropriate, including internal examination for pelvic floor dysfunction, prolapse, and pelvic pain. Treatment may include hands-on therapy, movement retraining, breath and nervous system support, and tailored rehabilitation — always guided by the client’s goals and comfort.

The focus is not just symptom management, but helping women reconnect with their bodies in a way that feels safe, informed, and sustainable.

Janine’s Approach

Women’s health physiotherapy at Anara Health is led by Janine, a highly experienced physiotherapist with a Master’s degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, along with extensive further training in pelvic health.

Janine also works as a birth doula, which brings a unique and valuable perspective to her clinical work. This experience enhances her understanding of pregnancy, birth, and the post-partum period, and informs a deeply respectful approach to pelvic health care.

Her work is trauma-aware and consent-led, with particular sensitivity to clients who have experienced birth trauma, medical trauma, or sexual trauma. Care is paced, collaborative, and guided by what feels safe and appropriate for each individual.

Janine only offers long consultations, acknowledging that women’s health physiotherapy requires time — both to thoroughly assess and to help clients feel safe, comfortable, and supported throughout their session.

Her approach is very hands-on, combining clinical expertise with a strong intuition and passion for bodywork. She tailors treatment to each person, using touch, movement, and guided exercises to help clients reconnect with their body, regain function, and feel supported throughout their journey.
