Internal Pelvic Release Work

What is involved in a session?

 

Sessions are intentionally two hours in length to allow time, care, and integration. A session may include:

​

  • Education around pelvic anatomy to support understanding of the pelvic bones, pelvic space, and soft tissues

  • Birth education and physiology, where relevant

  • Gentle exploration and release of tension within ligaments, muscles, and fascia accessed through the posterior vaginal wall

  • Guidance on self-care practices, including appropriate perineal massage techniques (if relevant), to continue independently or with partner support

  • Sharing of other supportive practices to encourage balance within the pelvis and womb, such as movement, positioning, and techniques drawn from approaches like Spinning Babies

You will be supported by Janine who, on top of her physiotherapy training, completed a year-long mentorship with midwife Fiona Hallinan of The Pelvic Space, who has over 30 years’ experience supporting women through this work. Following this mentorship, Janine went on to work alongside Fiona for many years in clinical practice, deepening her understanding and skill in offering internal pelvic release. She is now pleased to offer this work within her own practice, bringing together extensive hands-on experience and physiotherapy knowledge.​ The unique combination of internal pelvic release and physiotherapy allows for a deeper understanding of the body and provides meaningful, supportive care for women during significant and often vulnerable times.​

Who may find this work supportive?

​

This work may be helpful for women who:

  • Feel tightness, discomfort, or a sense of holding in the pelvic area

  • Experience ongoing pelvic pain or symptoms that feel difficult to fully resolve

  • Have a history of endometriosis or other conditions affecting pelvic health 

  • Notice pain or discomfort with intimacy

  • Live with a feeling of heaviness or reduced support in the pelvis

  • Feel their pelvic floor has difficulty fully relaxing

  • Are preparing for birth and want to support softness, awareness, and confidence

  • Have experienced pregnancy, birth, surgery, injury, or stressful life events that the body may still be holding

  • Are living with the effects of past trauma and are seeking a gentle, body-led way to support healing

  • Feel ready to move through stored tension or protective patterns at a pace that feels safe

  • Are seeking care that is slow, respectful, and guided by choice

What are the benefits?

  • Supports the body to gently release held tension, without forcing or pushing

  • May help improve comfort, ease of movement, and connection with the body

  • Encourages a sense of space, balance, and safety within the pelvic region

  • Allows access to deeper supportive tissues that are not always reached through external approaches alone

  • Integrates breathing and nervous system support to help the body feel calmer and more settled

  • Delivered with ongoing consent, clear communication, and control remaining with you throughout

You are always in control. Sessions can be paused, adjusted, or stopped at any time.

What this work is not

​

  • It is not a routine internal examination or assessment

  • It is not forceful, invasive, or rushed

  • It is not something that happens without your full understanding and consent

  • It is not about pushing through discomfort or overriding your boundaries

  • It is not required — internal work is always optional and guided by your readiness

​

This work is about listening to the body, respecting its timing, and supporting healing in a way that feels safe and contained.
